Currently the site offers an advertisement-free experience and makes all images, videos, articles, buying guides, and explainers freely available to all readers. To continue operating the site, I could use your support.
First: The primary goal of the memberships is to support this site and the Unsharpen Youtube channel. If you think Unsharpen.com makes the Internet a slightly happier place for you then consider becoming a member.
Second: Members will get priority email support. Every day people ask deeply interesting, deeply involved questions to me about their pens and pencils. I’d love to be able to answer every one, but it’s simply not possible. Members’ questions will receive priority answering and all the depth and help I can muster. I can’t guarantee I’ll respond quickly or that I’ll solve your problem but I’m going to do my best.
Future: If this pioneer program shows signs of success member benefits will increase. I have a huge listed of possible features that I could make available given the time and resources. I don’t want to tease specifics now and overpromise, but if you want to learn more, just email. I’d love to get people’s thoughts.
Is it hard to cancel my membership?
No, not at all. Login to your secure account and you will have the option to check your membership status and cancel if you’d like. If you have any issues email firstname.lastname@example.org with an explanation and it’ll get attention.
Payments will reoccur automatically (like any membership) but you can easily suspend or cancel through your login.
Who handles the billing? Can they be trusted?
Membership is done through Memberful.com and billing is handled by Stripe.com. These are large, secure, trustworthy operations, both of which I’ve vetted to the best of my ability. Additionally each are trusted by businesses and people that I trust and I have used both with my own information.
What about non-monetary support?
Not everyone has the means to support YouTube channels and websites, we get that. So what can you do if you still want to help out?
- Subscribe to the YouTube channel (maybe have some friends do the same)
- Share articles on social media
- Link to the site from your website or blog (people still have those right?)
- Sign up for the newsletter
- Email a suggestion about how the site can improve, articles we are missing, or unanswered pen questions you might have

Payments are secured and through Memberful and processed with Stripe. Payment are non-refundable. Your email address address and personal information will not be shared or used for purposes aside from the processing of scheduled payments.
