Pilot Ageless Ballpoint Pen

The Pilot Ageless is a retractable pen with a double-knock mechanism and a high-end design that makes it quite a desirable pen. It’s sold under a few different names, like Ageless Future and Ageless Present, but they are the same pen. There is also the Ageless Mosaic, but opinions different on if that’s separate model or  just another colorway (it has a mosaic, weave pattern).

We have consolidated all the Pilot Ageless pens here to avoid confusion.

The Ageless comes with a plastic case which gives it a high-end feel and helps justify the price, which is generally over $40. This is a nice piece but it’s not very useful once the pen is in use unless if you want to use the bottom half as a pen stand.

The Ageless has a double-knock mechanism where the nose cone of the pen extends with one twist and then the writing tip extends with the next. It’s a unique, fun way to interact with the pen, and one that makes it very pocketable as all the pointy parts are hidden way inside the pen.

The Ageless includes the Pilot Dr. Grip Center of Gravity ballpoint refill, which is the same refill as the BRFN-10F. The pen will fit other Pilot refills, like the BRFN-30 and BRF-25.

Pilot Ageless vs Timeline

The Ageless is a ballpoint pen while the Timeline is the gel variety. The Ageless has a larger writing tip (1.0 mm) while the Timeless has a thinner, cleaner gel line (0.5 mm).
