The F-301 is the entry-level ballpoint pen in Zebra’s Steel Series. It’s a lower end version of the F-402 and F-701 ballpoint pens.
Being part of the “3” line of the Steel series means that the F-301 actually uses a fair bit of plastic in addition to the metal front cone, barrel, clip, and button. Notably, the grip is made out of a type of inexpensive-feeling plastic, as is the top of the click button and the piece that connects the clip to the body. As the pens get more expensive, like the F-701 or the G-450, they use less plastic and more, heavier metal components.
The F-301 is a small, lightweight pen, which isn’t surprising giving the price. What’s nice about it is that it’s the only part in the Steel series that is commonly sold in 12-packs, which is rare for a metal, EDC-friendly pen. It’s also quite affordable, with 12-packs generally selling for under $25.
The F-301 take Zebra’s often-used F-Refill, models 85511 and 85512.
