The Lamy Balloon is an affordable, smaller rollerball pen designed for students. It’s very similar to the Safari and Vista pens, but it’s smaller and more affordable.
The Balloon uses Lamy’s proprietary T11 refill, as opposed to the longer, more expensive Lamy M63 rollerball refill. Despite the use of the odd refill, the Balloon writes well, similar to a fine-to-medium Lamy rollerball. The small refills to tend to wear out quickly.
The Bubble has a triangular grip similar to that of the Vista and Safari. In fact the two parts are interchangeable, it’s just the conical nose piece that is different — it’s long on the Safari and quite short and stubby on the Bubble. The threading and all measurements are the same.
