Many people lament the early death of the Maruman Mnemosyne Word Book and have since adopted the Col-o-ring ink testing notebook. While this is a fine option, Muji has a much more affordable product for sale that you might be able to buy locally.
The Muji Word Cards is a small set of 100 pieces of paper held together with a metal snap ring. The product is very similar to the aforementioned, discontinue product from Maruman, with almost the same name. The main difference is that the Maruman book was much larger (about four times larger).
The Muji Word Cards booklet is surprisingly small, but it is sufficiently large for use as a compact flash card. It is OK, but ink testing but not ideal since the small size means that fountain pen ink cataloging is a challenge. Given the price of the Word Cards, around $2 in the US, many people will be happy with the trade off, but it’s a tight fit.
The paper’s weight is not mentioned, but it’s sufficiently heavy that most pens will not bleed through. This is good for ink cataloging, but critical for flash cards, where any hints of what’s on the other side of the sheet would completely defeat the purpose.
