The Glycer is an affordable ballpoint pen from Indian pen manufacturer, Linc. It is generally sold in large, office-focused boxes of up to 50 pens, and is not often seen outside of India.
The Glycer follows a very basic formula: it’s a plastic, capped pen with a rubber grip. It uses low viscosity ink for smoother writing, as is the practice with almost all modern ballpoint pens. The product itself looks a lot like the super popular Uni-ball Signo UM-151 gel pen, but it’s generally not made or styled as well as the Uni-ball.
The Glycer is most commonly sold in a Medium, 1.0 mm writing tip. The ink refill does come out, so the pen is technically refillable, but refills don’t seem to be available online.
Linc Glycer Ballpoint Review
The Glycer is a very simple pen with simple specifications. It’s a low viscosity ballpoint pen with the most basic design possible. The usability of the pen is totally fine: it’s more comfortable than it needs to be but not much more.
The design of the pen’s exterior is dated — this looks like pen from 15 years ago. That said, it’s no eyesore and it’ll fit in fine in any office environment.
The Glycver is a modern-feeling ballpoint ink, with a smoother writing style than a classic Bic or Paper Mate. The downside of this is that the ink is not of very high quality. The black ink is lighter than it should be, almost a grey, and it has very bad “railroading.”
Railroading happens when ink doesn’t make it to the end of the ball, but rather goes along the end. The resulting ink patter is not a straight, solid line, but rather two lines with a slight gap between them. This is a common fault with cheaper inks and less well constructed pens.
So while the Glycver is affordable and relatively smooth, it’s not a pen that we recommend.
