Lamy’s Dialog CC is an upcoming capless, retractable fountain pen that is similar to the Dialog 3. The pen will be released in the second half of 2020. The Dialog CC was announced alongside the upcoming Lamy Ideos.
The Dialog CC was unofficially announced in June 2020 when Lamy’s catalog was released online. Then pen is not yet for sale, but is expected to go on sale in September or October 2020.
The Dialog CC is a twist retractable fountain pen with a 14K gold nib, the Z55 to be exact. The pen is clearly based on the Dialog 3, but has an oblong shape instead of a round one. Additionally the CC has a roll stop instead of the Dialog 3’s subpar clip. The pen will use the same twist mechanism as the Dialog 3 (this is good news).
We know the Dialog CC will be released in 2020 in at least two colors: black and piano white. The pen has gold accents as opposed to the most convention platinum coloring on the Dialog 3.
The Dialog CC looks to restyled, but not significantly changed version of the Dialog 3 that the Pilot Capless LS is to the Vanishing Point. The CC seems to address the main criticism of the Dialog 3, which is that the pen is too wide for many people, The flat sides and elliptical shape seem like they will cot down on the width of the pen and make it a bit easier to hold.
Official measurements are not yet known, but the CC appears to be a bit shorter than the Dialog 3 and hopefully a bit lighter.
