Glitter Pens On Video

Here is our video test of our top glitter pens in action. Check it out, or read the article below for a deep dive into the top performing pens we tests.

A high-resolution scan of some of the sparkle pens tested

Pentel Hybrid Dual Metallic

The top pick when it comes to glitter pens is the Pentel Hybrid Dual Metallic. This is the biggest, broadest, brightest of the sparkling pens, with a full range of colors. Even people who aren’t even remotely fans of glitter pens will be unable to stop themselves from enjoying the bold colors and wet writing style of the Dual Metallic line.

Pilot Juice Up Classic Glossy

The Pilot Juice Up gel line isn’t normally one you’d associate with a sparkle pen, but it actually has some really nice options. The Juice Up is sold in set of Metallic colors as well as the “Classic Glossy” line which has a subtle amount of sparkle. The ink looks amazing, it’s just enough glitter effect to give it a little pop, and they write really well. The pens themselves are also really cool looking retractable pens that aren’t too crazy looking or over-sized.

We really like the Classic Glossy Green in 0.4 mm, but there are a number of solid options.

Sakura Gelly Roll

If you are looking for the original classic glitter effect pen, then you need to consider the original gel pen, the Gelly Roll. Of the Gelly Roll pens, the best sparkle one is the Stardust family which is designed for journaling, highlighting, special effects, and even coloring in sections of your art. These pens have been great since the 1980s.

The Gelly Roll Stardust also sells in a Clear pen, which adds the sparkle effect without changing the color of what’s below it. It’s super handy and clever.

There is also the Gelly Roll Metallic (writing test above). This is a great writer and a really fun art pen that is one of the most popular options in the Gelly Roll line, though it’s a bit less interesting than the Stardust.

All Gelly Roll pens are good writers, they are affordable, they are easy to find, and they use archival quality ink.

Some other options worth considering are:

  • Pentel Hybrid Gel Grip DX
  • Uni-ball Signo Sparkling Glitter Gel
  • Uni-ball Signo Broad Gold / Silver

Best Erasable Sparkle Pen

You might not believe it, but yes, there are erasable glitter pens. Our favorite is the Pilot Frixion Kese Lamé, which makes sense, because the Frixion is our favorite erasable pen.

The Frixion Kese Lamé are pastel color gel pens with some sparkle in them. They are a bit hard to find and they can be a little expensive (over $3 per pen) but they are really fill an incredible niche.
