Lamy’s Crystal Ruby is a dull red ink sold in the company’s 30ml Crystal bottles.
Lamy Ruby is from the company’s new (for 2019) Crystal line of inks. These are highly concentrated inks with a lot of vibrancy to their coloring. They are a departure from Lamy’s standard workhorse inks in that the colors are more heavily pigmented (technically more heavily dye-infused) and the bottles are smaller (30 ml vs 50 ml).
The Ruby ink is a well-behaved red, but not a very attractive one. The Crystal inks are less practical, work-oriented colors than a standard Lamy variants but with more complex secondary tones. Ruby has a sort of washed out tone typically with hints of brown went concentrated.
This ink has an average drying time and low water resistance.
While this is a good ink we, at Unsharpen, have not typically been blown away by Lamy’s Crystal inks. They are nice enough, but given the level of competition in the ink market, they aren’t interesting or unique enough to woo anyone except Lamy diehards.
The Beryl and other Crystal inks are not sold in Lamy’s T10 cartridges.
