Noodler’s #41 Brown is a dark brown, handmade fountain pen ink that offers excellent value.

Noodler’s #41 Brown is of archival quality, which is a nice addition to the ink. It’s part of Noodler’s Bulletproof line-up, similar to X-Feather, which means it’s water-resistant, bleach-resistant, and UV-resistant. This means it’s a good ink for signing checks and for other longterm, secure applications.
The Bulletproof formula is great for use on cheaper papers, like office paper, where it’s resistant to feathering and bleedthrough. The downside of this is that it’s slower to dry and not a great fit for fountain pen paper. It’s also not great for lefties, as it’s prone to smearing, especially on nicer papers.
It’s a very dark brown with hints of black that aren’t at all subtle. The ink has almost no shading and it really a workhorse ink, not a luxury or showy ink.
