Organics Studio Santiago’s Sea Blue is a blue-green fountain pen ink with a strong red sheen. It’s a high sheen ink.
also known as Organics Studio Ernest Hemingway Santiago’s Sea Blue is a beautiful ink that is known for it’s wonderful red sheen and compelling tones. It photographs wonderfully and is one of the most attractive fountain pen inks sold today.
As seen in this (admittedly sub-par) scan, it’s composed of blue, green, red, and some yellow for color depth.
Despite being really good looking, the ink is a challenge to use. It’s tends to dry out in pens, doesn’t write particularly well, it highly susceptible to water, and very slow to dry. Even after being “dry” the ink will still rub off and get on your fingers minutes later. Basically, you are trying to get at this color and using the ink despite its many flaws.
Sea Blue is a wet writer, when its flowing, but that was a problem when we used it with a few pens, including a Platinum Preppy that always runs well. It’s reasonably easy to clean, but does have a sort of oily appearance inside the pen, so it doesn’t look great in demonstrators.
Santiago’s Sea Blue ink is sold in a 55 ml glass bottle.
