Sheaffer, a division of A.T. Cross and a long-standing pen company, sells a number of standard ink colors in its “Classic Ink Cartridges.” These are good, everyday inks that are sold in Sheaffer’s proprietary cartridge.
Sheaffer’s Classic Purple is a good ink — with a nice flow, strong color, and no ill effects (feathering, bleeding, smell, etc.). It’s a very good everyday ink, just like you’d expect from a workhorse brand’s standard ink.
The purple color is a blue-ish purple which is clearly suited for office live, not a arty bright purple or an extravagant royal purple. This color seems more purple when you are writing but dries to be almost a royal blue. It’s highly legible and won’t raise too many eyebrows, seeming like a fun or not serious color.
