Maruman Mnemosyne Word Cards are essentially a set of flash cards that are bound together with a single snap-lock metal ring. They gained popularity with fountain pen users when they started to be used for testing and cataloging fountain pen ink.
The Mnemosyne Word Cards were unfortunately discontinued around 2016. They are no longer available for sale and are very difficult to find as new-old-stock. At this point most buyers have started to move over to the Muji Word cards or the Col-o-ring.
The Word Cards were, as the name implies, designed for use as flash cards. The snap ring meant that cards could easily be added, removed, or have their order changed. The paper was heavy enough to stand up to fountain pen ink and to be easily flipped through in the case that you were looking for a certain color.
