Amazon has taken its strategy of releasing its own very of popular products, this time going after the entry-level or starter steel nib fountain pen. The AmazonBasics Refillable Fountain Pen is a simple, but nicely made pen that is clearly going after the sub-$20 fountain pen market, which is currently dominated by pens like the Pilot Explorer and Pilot Metropolitan, as well as various pens by Cross and Parker.
The styling of the AmazonBasics pen very much reflects that of an entry-level Cross, like the Cross Aventura.
The Amazon fountain pen has a very plain steel nib which only has an “M” on it for medium or “F” for fine. The pen’s hardware is all metal and all chromed.
