The Squire rollerball is a capless pen and has no clip.

The Squire originally launched as a Kickstarter project. It has an expected release date of March 2016 and raised $145,259 from 1,782 backers.

Squire Rollerball Versions

The standard Baron Fig is an aluminum rollerball. It comes in a number of colors, including limited editions. The normal model, in aluminum, weighs 24 grams. It sells for $55, putting it at a relatively high price compared to pens like Retro 51 Tornado.

The Squire is also sold in brass, which sells for $75. This pen has a machined finish and more than doubles the weight (51 grams). This model is part of the “Precious Metals” edition, though brass is not commonly grouped with gold, silver, palladium, platinum, and rhodium which are the standard precious metals.

There is also the Squire Copper, which is $85 and weighs 51 grams. Finally there is the Squire Stainless Steel, which is 42 grams and $95. Both of these are also part of the Precious Metals series.

Squire Rollerball Limited Editions

One of the best known features of the Squire are its limited edition colors. These often have interesting printed designs on the pen as all as custom gift boxes. They tend to sell out and can get very expensive on Ebay (and other venues) once they are gone. Most of the limited editions pens so far as uses the aluminum body.

These include:

  • Editor: Red with editing marks printed on the pen
  • Insightful Spectre: Charcoal grey with a ghost printed on it
  • Lock & Key: brass with an etched key
  • Error 404: Unknown (you can only see it if you buy one)
  • Alphabet: Black with the letters of the alphabet printed down the side
  • Mysterium: Orange with a 3D geometric shape printed on it
