The Foray Advanced Ink Retractable ballpoint pen is a rebranded version of the more popular Zebra Z-Grip Flight Ballpoint Retractable Pen.
This is a modern ballpoint pen that is designed to have the smoothness of a gel pen but to have the versatile writing of a ballpoint. It has a tungsten carbide ball for smoothness and longevity.
The Foray pen is typically sold in 4- through 12-packs and is most commonly seen in a 1.2 mm bold size.
The pen is fully plastic except for the metal clip.
Foray Advanced Ink Retractable Ballpoint Review
This pen is thoroughly unremarkable. It’s smoother than a typical ballpoint, but the writing quality is not great. The marketing materials talks a lot about smoothness and no skipping, and while it does fine on the smoothness front and it doesn’t skip, it does tend to build up blobs on the tip. The blobs can get messy and even smudge/smear is you aren’t being careful.
The Foray’s body is plastic and the pen is very lightweight. It has a flimsy feel that isn’t terrible, but simply functional. The grip is rubber but it’s a hard rubber that actually doesn’t do much to improve your grip. In fact it has a slightly oily feel that isn’t very pleasant. The embedded wave pattern is a nice touch and is probably the pen’s best feature.
