The Safari is an entry-level pen from Lamy. It’s most commonly sold as a fountain pen, but also appears as a mechanical pencil, and ballpoint pen.
The Safari rollerball most similar to the fountain pen thanks to the use of the cap. The Safari is the same pen as the Lamy Vista, though the Vista is always clear while the Safari is sold in opaque colors.
The Lamy Safari uses Lamy’s proprietary M63 rollerball refill. This is a long, metal refill which is mainly sold in a Medium size and in black, which is the size/color of the pen’s stock refill. The M63 is similar in shape to a Pilot G2 refill, so the Safari can accommodate a number of different gel or rollerballs refills if a small shim is placed behind them in order to bring them to the length of the M63.
The Safari is made of opaque ABS plastic and is sold in a number of different colors. Some of stock, while other are limited edition or only available for one year, like the desirable Petrol color.
