The Rotring Altro tubular nib is an incredibly cool pen from the classic Rotring era (late 1980s and early 1990s). It’s basically a consumer version of a Rotring technical pen (aka drafting pen), like the Isograph. This Altro line is a plastic version of the high-end Rotring 900 series. It was sold as a ballpoint, mechanical pencil, fountain pen, and tubular nib pen.
The Altro, like the Rotring 900, has a channeled body that makes for a beautiful as well as a functional design. The Altro is made almost fully of plastic, with the only metal components being the clip and the tube. Almost all the parts are made to look just like the 900, though the Altro got fun colors and was sold for a fraction of the price.
The Altro tubular nib uses international short fountain pen cartridges.
