The Tombow Zoom 101 is a carbon fiber and aluminum pen that was sold as the “world’s lightest high-end fountain pen.”
The pen, which was released in 2015 to commemorate the 20th anniversary of Tombow’s famous Design Collection, was made of carbon fiber and aluminum (specifically Duralumin). These materials maximized strength while minimizing the weight of the pen. The pen is entirely aluminum and carbon fiber except for a rubber o-ring at the top that holds the cap on when the pen is posted.
The Zoom 101 was released as a fountain pen, rollerball, and ballpoint. The pen was made in Japan but was sold through Tombow Europe.
The Zoom 101 was sold with a rhodium-coated steel nib in fine, medium, and broad sizes.
