The Zebra G-450 is a new-for-2021 gel pen in Zebra’s “4” line in the Steel series of pens. This is a lower-end counterpart of the G-750 gel pen.
Where the “7” line, like the F-701, are entirely metal, the 3 and 4 model pens do have some plastic and rubber parts. The G-450 has a full metal barrel and all metal components, but has a rubber grip, similar to the G-402 and F-402 pens.
The G-450 is a smaller pen but it weighs a reasonable 20.9 grams. Despite it’s small size it has a sturdy feel to it thank to the brass barrel, metal front piece, metal clip, and metal button assembly.
The G-450 is a small, reliable pen that is ideal for EDC (everyday carry) use thanks to it’s glove-friendly rubber grip and a size that will be ideal for any pocket. This includes smaller pockets, like those found on the arm of a uniform or a shirt’s chest pocket.
The G-450 is only sold with a gel refill, and there is no ballpoint equivalent. That pen would be the F-450, but Zebra didn’t release this in 2021 though perhaps we will see it in the future. The closely equivalent in a ballpoint is the F-402, which has a hard plastic grip instead of a rubber one and Zebra’s classic design which has been unchanged for years.
The G-450 is only sold in this all-black “stealth” design and isn’t sold in silver bare metal like the rest of the Steel series (excepting the G-750).
