The Zebra MYTee Grip is a mechanical pencil with a removable, customizable grip strip that wraps around the lower section of the pencil’s body.
This pencil is sold with Wet and Dry grip options. The Wet one is ideal for people with sweaty hands, while the Dry grip is for people general use.
The MYTee Grip does not have a grip on it, but rather includes a grippy strip that wraps around the lower end of the pencil, from the top of the front cone to the middle of the barrel. At mid-barrel there is a rubber band that prevents the grip from unwinding.
There is an indentation where the grip goes, with a guide so you can wrap the grip strip around the barrel properly.
The model of the pencil is P-MA77-S-BK (in black, wet grip) while the spare grip is P-XA77-D-BK (black, dry).
Zebra MYTee Grip Mechanical Pencil Review
The MYTee Grip is a very simple mechanical pencil, with no anti-lead breaking mechanisms (like Zebra’s Delguard). It’s as simple a pencil as is sold these days with an extendable pipe, but no other notable features.
This pencil really is all about its grip. And that would be OK if the grip was better, but it really us just a rubbery sticker that you can add to any pencil. Sure the MYTee Grip includes a grip, but it doesn’t even include a replacement. Also, if you are buying one online, it’s unclear whether you should get a Wet or Drip grip, so it’s confusing from the start.
The grip works well and will be a nice feature for people with sweaty hands, but it’s lightweight material and sticker adhesive will wear out quickly, meaning you’ll need more grips soon. At an MSRP of $1.50 that’s not going to get too expensive, but it’ is annoying unless you carry spares with you.
Unless you specifically need a super grippy, short-life span grip due to sweaty hands or a related grip issue, this pencil doesn’t bring much to the table.
