The Pilot G2 is a rollerball style refill designed to fit in Pilot G2 retractable pens. While not technically a standardized size, many refills are commonly referred to as being Pilot G2-sized or Pilot G2 compatible.
Please note: Pilot’s G2 is completely different from the ISO standard ballpoint refill, which is generally known as the Parker-style G2. It’s unfortunately that they are both referred to as G2, but they are clearly different and not interchangeable if viewed outside of a pen body.
It’s worth noting that in the United States these refills are sold as the “Pilot G2 Refills” and are most commonly sold in packs of two refills. In Japan (as well as some other places, but primarily in Japan) the refills are commonly sold as singles and come with different names, such as:
- Pilot LP2RF
- Pilot LG2RF
In the United States the Pilot G2 Gel Pen Refill is sold in a number of different sizes — 0.38 mm, 0.5 mm, 0.7 mm, and 1.0 mm — but in Japan the model number is used to differentiate the size. The gel ink is the same in both types of packaging.
