The Schmidt 888 Safety Ceramic Rollerball refill is a popular, very affordable rollerball refill that is often found in European rollerballs. It’s a very popular aftermarket refill as well.
The Schmidt 888 is sold in both fine (0.6 mm), medium (0.7 mm), and broad (1.0 mm). It has a plastic body and ceramic ball for durability. The conical tip at the end of the pen is steel.
The 888 is known for it’s vibrant colors and affordable price. The main complaint with the 888 is that the ink can feel a bit watery at times and can easily bleed through thinner papers.
Schmidts 5888 is the same refill as the 888 but with a metal body instead of plastic one.
