Lamy Crystal Beryl

Lamy’s Crystal Beryl is a dark purple ink sold in the company’s 30ml Crystal bottles.

Lamy Beryl is from the company’s new (for 2019) Crystal line of inks. These are highly concentrated inks with a lot of vibrancy to their coloring. They are a departure from Lamy’s standard workhorse inks in that the colors are more heavily pigmented (technically more heavily dye-infused) and the bottles are smaller (30 ml vs 50 ml).

The Beryl is a well-behaved dark purple ink. It’s a less practical, work-oriented color than a standard Lamy purple, with the secondary tones leaning much more towards a brown or even a black than a blue, as you’d typically see in a work ink.

This ink has an average drying time and low water resistance. It’s a nice, artistic color that has some light shading and some pink tones can be revealed.

While this is a good ink we, at Unsharpen, have not typically been blown away by Lamy’s Crystal inks. They are nice enough, but given the level of competition in the ink market, they aren’t interesting or unique enough to woo anyone except Lamy diehards.

The Beryl and other Crystal inks are not sold in Lamy’s T10 cartridges.
