Vinta Inks “Blue Blood” Dugong Bughaw 1521 is a dark blue ink with a heavy sheen and a relatively slow drying time.
This is an ink with a very heavy sheen (especially on the right paper, like a Tomoe River). It has red and ink tones in the sheen that are meant to symbol the blue blood referenced in the title.
This ink does not have great flow but it’s an acceptable writer once it get going. The ink is, not surprisingly given the heavy sheen, more for artistic purposes and calligraphy than it is for day-to-day use.
This ink is sold both in 30 ml and 45 ml bottles. It’s primarily sold in the US through the Vanness 1938 ink shop, but it’s made in the Philippines.
This is a fun ink, but it’s no one of my favorites. It tends to dry on the pen and be difficult to remove when filling. It’s also slow to dry and doesn’t have a very good flow. That said, it’s a very nice blue and the sheen is extreme. So while it’s not fun to use, the results are quite nice.
