Postalco Channel Point Pen

The Postalco Channel Point is a high-end, limited run pen. It’s sold by Postalco, the Brooklyn/Japan-based boutique goods brand, who is mostly known for their notebooks.

The Postalco Channel Point is made and sold in partnership with Uni Mitsubishi, the giant pen company.

The Postalco Channel Point is sold in two varieties: the grid and then crosshatch. These styles determine the angle of the grid pattern on the pen;s clip and body — either vertical or at a 45-degree angle. The pen is fully made of metal parts, despite the lower half looking like it’s made of plastic. The metal work is quite nice through the pen, though the upper half isn’t as nice as the lower, with some parts looking not quite as polished as the could be. This is likely do to the limited quantities in which this pen is made.

With a retail price of about $400, this is an very expensive pen despite being made by a mainstream manufacturer and using a standard Jetstream refill. The pen’s body and section are body nicely made — this is basically a machined pen — but the price is in no way in line with the product you are getting. The pen is, as you can tell, a luxury good and buyers should go into the purchase understanding that.

The most interesting part about the Postalco Channel pen is the clip, which is actually how the pen is knocked and retracted. The clip can be pushed down to extend the refill, and it stays in place using a catch that has been machined out of the metal body. The clip can be pushed down on the top or pulled away from the body to retract the pen. This is very similar to the mechanism used on the Rotring Jazz and the Pentel Graphgear 1000.
