The Zebra Sarasa Dry X1 Gel Pen is the US market, office superstore version of the Sarasa Dry, one of the best gel pens sold today.
The Sarasa Dry X1 is the lowest price version of the Sarasa Dry. It’s often sold in boxes of 12-pens for under $10, but Zebra does sell individual pens, but about $1.45 each.
All the Sarasa Dry pens, whether they are US-focused models like this one, or Japanese models, us the JLV quick-drying gel refills. In the US these are most commonly sold (as are the Sarasa Dry gel pens) in 0.7 mm, but the Japanese models are often seen in 0.4 mm and 0.7 mm.
The Sarasa Dry X1 has a rubber gripper that is untextured and slightly tapered, getting wider towards its top. The grip has a nasty habit of picking up lint and dust as it goes through the day, but is easy to clean off. The rest of the pen is entirely plastic and of — at best — average quality construction.
Zebra Sarasa Dry X1 Gel Pen Review
While the Sarasa Dry gel refill is one of the best sold today, the Sarasa Dry X1 pen has had a number of corners cut in order to reduce the price as much as possible.
The strength of this pen is that is takes the Sarasa Dry gel ink and makes it much more accessible, especially in the US, but the downside is that the build quality of the pen is poor
