The Monteverde Engage One Touch is a refillable rollerball pen that uses fountain pen ink.
The pen, while a cool concept, has received criticism for its large size, problematic top push button, and its leaking. Despite this, the allure of a rollerball that uses fountain pen ink is still hard to resist.
The rollerball assembly needs to be replaced every 20 refill or so in order to prevent leaks, at a cost about about $12.
It’s worth noting upfront that the pen is very large. At about 12.0 mm width and over 15.0 cm long, the pen is quite huge for a rollerball. Ironically, the next most popular rollerball that uses fountain pen ink is the undersized. J. Herbin refillable rollerball which costs about a fifth the price of this pen and performs better… but is generally too small for everyday use.
