The Penbbs 309 is a affordable Chinese fountain pen that, unlike many Chinese fountain pen brands, is sold through a few mainstream pen shops. It is also available through Ebay and other resellers.
The PenBBS 309 is a plastic-bodied, piston-filling pen with a steel nib. The 309 is on the large size for a Chinese fountain pen, which — when combined with a piston-filler — means a very large ink capacity.
The Penbbs 309 is interesting among Chinese fountain pens because it is sold in a large varieties of colors, including some more complex acrylics which has intricate patterns. Some of these will bring the price of the pen up from $20 (or so) on the low side to upwards of $45. This puts the pen in a distinctly different price class then most pens from Wing Sung and Jinhao.
The 992 does not have a safety/stopper on the piston so users should be careful while unscrewing it, as they will be able to go too far and remove the piston top entirely.
The section of the nib can be entirely unscrewed which is helpful for cleaning but isn’t super useful because replacement nib units aren’t available for sale.
