Staedtler Concrete Ballpoint Pen

The Staedtler Concrete is a ballpoint pen made of a custom blend of concrete. Every pen is unique because of the building material.

The Concrete is a hexagonal pen that has oddly shaped sides — it’s mismatched at parts and cuts down to non-symmetrical facets as you get nearer to the tip. It’s a unique end interesting pen, but this only make it any more comfortable. Holding the pen can be a bit strange because of the asymmetrical design.

The pen uses all metal hardware and has a Parker-style G2 refill inside. Staedtler outfits the pen with their standard ballpoint refill in black.

Weight about 33 grams, the pen is heavier than typical pen, but it’s not super heavy. Almost all machined pens are heavier than this, despite the fact that many buyers would expect a concrete pen to have a good deal more weight — say in the range of 45-55 grams like a solid brass pen would be. As it is, the Concrete is weighty without being overwhelming.

The concrete body does wear in with use. The glossy coating on the outside loses its shine and then concrete and have some small chips from usage.
