The Tombow Oceanic is a retractable ballpoint pen that is shaped like a fish and covered in a scale-like texture.
The Oceanic is covered in a textured rubber that is almost velvety in its feel. The material is grippy, but very much unlike a typical rubber pencil body.
The tail of the fish — the back of the pen — is actually the button that can be pushed in to extend the refill. The pen uses a D1 ISO refill which means it’s easy to replace, but the capacity is limited. The D1 refill is friction-fit into the body of the pen.
The front of the pen unscrews in order to make the refill easy to pull out, but the back does not come off.
