The Uni Limex is a Japanese market pen that was released on September 27, 2019. It’s basically a Mitsubishi Pencil Co., Ltd. Boxy design that’s made out of Limex, an innovative material designed by Tokyo-based TBM Co., Ltd. The material is a plastic alternative that is made out of 80% limestone.
This pen is said to be the first practical application of Limex, which is designed limit the use of not only plastic but paper in the future.
Limex is made out of 80% limestone and 20% polyolefin resin. It has no wood or water used in its creation process. The material is infinitely recycle-able and environmentally friendly because it doesn’t use trees or water and uses less petroleum-derived materials than plastic. Japan is rich in limestone deposits to this material isn’t just recycle, it’s also self-sufficient as it doesn’t require any importation.
The pen, model SD-LX-07, is basically a Mitsubishi Pencil Co. Boxy, but made out of a different material and in white, not black.
The Limex uses a 0.7 mm S-7S refill, a popular options for affordable ballpoint pens.
