The Yasutomo Grip 500 is a double-knock mechanical pencil with 0.5 mm lead. It is a rare mechanical pencils, sold in the 1980s, that is no longer in production.
This pencil is the same thing as the Ohto Gripper mechanical pencil, just with slightly different colors, grip texture, and branding.
The Grip 500 was sold in white, black, green, blue, and red body colors, with the last three being translucent plastic. The Ohto Gripper (pictured) was sold with opaque body colors.
The pencil’s tip isn’t telescopic and has no moving parts. Rather, when you knock the top button, the entire pencil mechanism extend out of the opening at the front of the pen, which is quite large.
