Kaweco Classic Sport Ballpoint is a retractable, pocket-able pen with a plastic body. It’s often confused with the Classic Sport Gel Roller Pen, but the ballpoint is retractable with a click button on the top, while the rollerball is capped (similar to the fountain pen).

In the Kaweco Classic line, the gel and fountain pens both have screw-on tops that can post, making the pen nearly full-size. The ballpoint deviates from this pattern and has a clickable top button. The trade-off for this is that the pen gets a nice metal cone piece at the front, giving it a bit of flair that the other pen types do not have.

Kaweco Classic Sport Ballpoint Pen Review

The ballpoint is generally regarded as the worst pen in the Kaweco series, not because it’s a bad pen but rather that it’s a less desirable purchase than the gel roller or fountain pen. The ballpoint’s click mechanism isn’t as well done as it could be, but that’s not the real issue with this pen.

The fountain pen and rollerball have caps, which means the cap can be posted on the back, making the Kaweco Classic Sport nearly a full-sized pen. That’s not an option with the ballpoint, so you are left with a pen that is only about 4 inches long. This is too short for many people, which means this pen is simply not a viable option for many buyers.
