Rotring 600 Ballpoint

Rotring 600 vs Rapid Pro

First released in 1989, the Rotring 600 is an iconic family of writing instruments. The most popular of the set was the ballpoint pen, which was available in a number of variations. The pen was re-released in 2018 as the Rotring 600 ballpoint (a top-button click retractable) and the Rotring 800 ballpoint (twist retractable), though they were both known as the “Rotring 600” when originally sold.

Parker Jotter XL Ballpoint Pen

The Parker Jotter XL is an recently released, larger version of the iconic Parker Jotter ballpoint pen. It released in 2018 to address criticisms of the original jotters size.

The Jotter XL is functionally identical to original Parker Jotter… but it’s larger. Both the length and diameter have been increased. Many people criticized the Jotter for being too small and this was Parker’s answer.

Schmidt DSM 2007 Mechanical Pencil Converter

The Schmidt DSM 2007 is a mechanical pencil converter For Parker-style G2 pens. It’s basically the full internals of a mechanical pencil made modular and fit into the space of a Parker-style G2 refill. This self-contained unit sells for under $5 and while it won’t fit every Parker-style pen, it will fit many of them.

The DSM 2007 is a mechanism for professional pen manufacturers, pen resellers, pen turns, and other pros, but it’s affordable enough and easy enough to find that it’s a fun pick-up for hobbyists as well.

Rotring 900 Ballpoint

Rotring 900 Family

The Rotring 900 is family of pens and pencils that was sold in the late 1980s and early 1990s. It was one of Rotring’s flagship pens at the time but it has not received the level of attention or the beloved status of the Rotring 600. The Rotring Altro was a cheaper, plastic version of the 900 but it wasn’t sold in all the same models.

Now, almost 30 years later, this is a cult pen with a small but dedicated following and relatively high prices on the used market.
