Uni SXR-600 Jetstream Ballpoint Pen Refill

The SXR-600 is a very special refill: it was the first Jetstream refill in a Parker-style G2 refill body. The refill is sold in two forms: the SXR-600-05 and the SXR-600-07, the 0.5 mm and 0.7 mm sizes.

Prior to this refill being available the SXR refills were rollerball-style refills with a proprietary shape. The SXR-600 not only adheres to the G2 standard but it moved the Jetstream refills to a shorter, twist-compatible version with a metal body.

Schneider Slider Rave

Schneider Slider Rave XB

The Schneider Slider Rave — often seen in the Extra Broad version, the Slider Rave XB — is a retractable ballpoint pen. It has a contoured, grippy body that is very comfortable and excellent ballpoint ink. The Rave is one of the smoothest ballpoint pens sold and it has the added perk of using a Parker-style G2 refill, which gives the pen body many options for other refills.

Pelikan Classic K200 Ballpoint Pen

Pelikan K200 Ballpoint Pen

The Classic K200 is one of Pelikan’s entry level ballpoint pens. This is, of course, a luxury pen so the retail price of this pen will still be well north of $120, but this is on the low side for Pelikan’s ballpoints — which are generally more affordable than the company’s fountain pens.

The K200 is the companion ballpoint to the M200 fountain pen. (Learn more about Pelikan’s naming conventions.)

Schmidt DSM 2006 Mechanical Pencil Converter

Schmidt DSM 2006

The Schmidt DSM 2006 is a mechanical pencil converter For Parker-style G2 pens. It’s basically the full internals of a mechanical pencil made modular and fit into the space of a Parker-style G2 refill. This self-contained unit sells for under $5 and while it won’t fit every Parker-style pen, it will fit many of them.

The DSM 2006 is a mechanism for professional pen manufacturers, pen resellers, pen turns, and other pros, but it’s affordable enough and easy enough to find that it’s a fun pick-up for hobbyists as well.

Premec Jumbo Ballpoint

Premec Ballpoint G2

The Premec Jumbo Ballpoint is a refill made in Switzerland. It uses an oil-based ballpoint ink and is sold in two main body varieties: polypropylene and nickel-plated brass. These don’t only affect the looks of the refill, but also the capacity: the plastic version can hold up to 3500 meters of ink where the metal version can hold 5000 meters (in 0.7 mm, but 2000 m in 1.0 mm).

Premec Jumbo Gel

Premec Gel Refill

The Premec Jumbo Gel refill is a Swiss-made Parker-style G2 refill. It uses a vibrant, but watery ink that is slow to dry but looks excellent on paper. The pen has a very short writing distance — just 400 meters  for the 0.7 mm version — but has many admirable qualities which Premec makes clear on its packaging. The ink is smooth and fun to use, but prone to smearing on any paper with any degree of ink resistance (like a Rhodia).

Parker Jotter Premier Edition (Sterling Silver, 2004)

Parker Jotter Premier Edition 2004 Silver/Saffron

The Parker Jotter Premier Edition is the “Jubilee” limited edition model of the Jotter. It was released in 2004 for the 50th anniversary of the pen (1954-2004). This version of the pen has a sterling silver body and inlayed plastic body, body of which are extremely rare features in the Jotter’s long history. The design is based on the Jotter Filigree, which was released in 1959 in celebration of the World’s Fair in New York City.

The Premier Edition in silver was sold in two colors: Saffron (yellow) and Licorice Black (black). The pen is often confused with the 2004 Jotter Special Edition which is not made of silver but was also released in celebration of the 50th anniversary. That pen was sold in two patterns: “Dots” and “Maze” and has a fully plastic grip area.
